Official effect

Ducked Delay

Currently the shared stereo feedback delay core rather than a delay that ducks under the dry input.

The current base delay family runs each channel through a simple feedback delay line with independent left and right times, then adds that repeat branch back over the dry source. `feedback` sets the echo-loop recirculation, `tone` opens the damping inside that loop, and `time` stretches the two taps, so these patches currently share one straightforward stereo feedback-echo architecture. There is no envelope follower or ducking gain stage in the current code.

Preview source

An internally generated picked-string phrase is widened to stereo with a 19-sample right-channel delay and slight left/right shelf-EQ offsets before it hits the delay core.

Effect core

Stereo feedback echo with independent left and right delay lines and loop damping.

Signal path

The static waveform and the live player both reflect this compiled signal chain.

  • internal picked-string demo phrase
  • stereo spread with a short right-channel delay
  • independent left and right feedback delays
  • loop damping
  • repeat branch added over the dry source
  • DC blocker
  • output gain trim
  • final tanh limiter

Controls that matter

These are the currently active controls detected in the FAUST source for this effect.

  • mix: Scales the repeat branch above the always-present dry phrase.
  • output_gain_db: Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
  • time: Sets the lengths of the left and right delay taps.
  • feedback: Raises the feedback coefficients inside the echo loops.
  • tone: Raises the damping cutoff inside the echo loops so less high end is lost each pass.

Controls

Audible controls in this DSP

  • mix

    Active

Scales the repeat branch above the always-present dry phrase.

Raises repeat level without fully removing the original attack.

  • output_gain_db

    Active

Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.

Matches loudness without changing the actual delay structure.

  • time

    Active

Sets the lengths of the left and right delay taps.

Moves the repeats from shorter slap-like spacing toward longer echo intervals.

  • feedback

    Active

Raises the feedback coefficients inside the echo loops.

Adds more repeat count and makes the tail hang on longer.

  • tone

    Active

Raises the damping cutoff inside the echo loops so less high end is lost each pass.

Makes the repeats darker at low settings and clearer at high settings.

Analysis

Code-derived notes

Current implementation shares the same straightforward stereo feedback-echo core across Digital Delay, Tape Echo, Dual Delay, Ducked Delay, Band Delay, Phase Delay, and Slow-Attack Delay. Ducked Delay does not yet duck under the dry signal.

More In Delay & Echo

Continue through the library

Each effect page uses the same generated description pipeline and compiled waveform preview assets.

Tape Echo

Currently a clean stereo feedback echo rather than a worn tape model with wow, flutter, or saturation.

View How It Works

Ping-Pong Delay

Currently independent left and right stereo repeats rather than a true alternating ping-pong bounce.

View How It Works

Granular Delay

Currently a stepped short-delay texture with quantized fragments rather than a true grain-cloud engine.
