Official effect

Reverse Half-Speed Looper

Currently the same reverse-like forward-delay smear as Reverse Looper rather than reverse half-speed loop playback.

The current reverse family does not reverse buffered audio. Instead, it builds a reverse-like smear from two forward delay taps, low-passing the primary delayed layer and mixing that texture against the dry phrase. `motion` stretches the tap times, `tone` opens the low-pass filter, and the declared `shape` control is inactive. There is no reversed or half-rate buffer playback in the current implementation.

Preview source

An internally generated picked-string phrase is widened to stereo with a 19-sample right-channel delay before it hits the current looper or glitch core.

Effect core

Two forward delay taps shaped into a reverse-like smear and blended against the dry phrase.

Signal path

The static waveform and the live player both reflect this compiled signal chain.

  • internal picked-string demo phrase
  • stereo spread with a short right-channel delay
  • two forward delay taps
  • low-pass shaping on the darker primary delayed layer
  • dry / reverse-like blend
  • DC blocker
  • output gain trim
  • final tanh limiter

Controls that matter

These are the currently active controls detected in the FAUST source for this effect.

  • mix: Blends between the dry preview phrase and the reverse-like delayed texture.
  • output_gain_db: Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
  • motion: Sets the lengths of the two forward delay taps used to fake the reverse-like texture.
  • shape: Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.
  • tone: Sets the low-pass cutoff on the darker primary delayed layer.

Controls

Audible controls in this DSP

  • mix

    Active

Blends between the dry preview phrase and the reverse-like delayed texture.

Higher settings emphasize the smeared delayed layer over the direct phrase.

  • output_gain_db

    Active

Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.

Matches loudness without changing the actual loop, freeze, or glitch structure.

  • motion

    Active

Sets the lengths of the two forward delay taps used to fake the reverse-like texture.

Stretches the smear into longer pre-echo style swells as it increases.

  • shape

    Active

Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.

Changing it currently has no effect on the sound.

  • tone

    Active

Sets the low-pass cutoff on the darker primary delayed layer.

Makes the reverse-like wash darker at low settings and more open at high settings.

Analysis

Code-derived notes

Current implementation shares the same reverse-like forward-delay architecture across Reverse Looper, Reverse Half-Speed Looper, and Reverse Capture, and the declared shape control is inactive. Reverse Half-Speed Looper is not yet reverse or half-speed playback.

Each effect page uses the same generated description pipeline and compiled waveform preview assets.

Looper

Currently a simple stereo repeat built from two delay taps rather than a true record-and-overdub looper.

Granular Freeze

Currently a synthetic held pad through a diffuser rather than a true live granular freeze.

Stutter / Beat Repeat

Currently oscillator-driven amplitude chopping rather than a true beat-repeat retrigger buffer.
