Official effect

Phase / Polarity Tool

Blends the right channel toward polarity inversion while leaving the left channel untouched.

The current phase tool is extremely simple: the left channel stays untouched while the right channel blends from normal polarity toward an inverted copy as `mix` increases. The declared `width`, `motion`, and `tone` controls are inactive, and the result then passes through the shared DC-blocking, output-gain, and soft-limiting stage.

Preview source

An internally generated picked-string phrase is widened to stereo with the shared 19-sample right-channel offset before the right side is blended toward polarity inversion.

Effect core

Right-channel polarity blend against an unchanged left channel.

Signal path

The static waveform and the live player both reflect this compiled signal chain.

  • internal picked-string demo phrase
  • shared stereo spread with a short right-channel delay
  • unchanged left channel
  • right channel blended toward inversion
  • DC blocker
  • output gain trim
  • final tanh limiter

Controls that matter

These are the currently active controls detected in the FAUST source for this effect.

  • mix: Crossfades or scales the current wet layer against the dry stereo preview source.
  • output_gain_db: Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
  • width: Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.
  • motion: Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.
  • tone: Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.

Controls

Audible controls in this DSP

  • mix

    Active

Crossfades or scales the current wet layer against the dry stereo preview source.

Higher settings make the processed layer more dominant relative to the dry phrase.

  • output_gain_db

    Active

Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.

Matches loudness without changing the underlying effect structure.

  • width

    Active

Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.

Changing it currently has no effect on the sound.

  • motion

    Active

Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.

Changing it currently has no effect on the sound.

  • tone

    Active

Declared in the shared control set but unused in the current preview code.

Changing it currently has no effect on the sound.

Analysis

Code-derived notes

Current implementation is intentionally simple: only the right side is polarity-blended, and the declared width, motion, and tone controls are inactive.

Stereo Image Shaper

Adds short per-side offsets to widen the stereo image with a simple Haas-style spread.

Mid/Side Widener

Currently the same short per-side delay widener as Stereo Image Shaper rather than a true mid/side matrix.

Speaker Sim

Applies a speaker-style band-pass contour and top-end trim to simulate a simpler output stage.
