How It Works
Technical view
The current blackhole-style family uses the shared diffuse reverb core and feeds it through an oversized trailing diffuser for a longer, softer late bloom. `space` stretches both the base core and the trailing diffuser, `decay` raises the comb feedbacks and trailing diffuser recirculation, and `tone` brightens the underlying wash.

Effect core
Diffuse comb-and-diffuser reverb with an oversized trailing diffuser for a longer late bloom.
Signal path
The static waveform and the live player both reflect this compiled signal chain.
- internal picked-string demo phrase
- stereo spread with a short right-channel delay
- four parallel damped comb stages
- two serial diffuser stages
- post-reverb high-shelf shaping
- oversized trailing diffuser stage
- dry / wet blend
- DC blocker
- output gain trim
- final tanh limiter
Controls that matter
These are the currently active controls detected in the FAUST source for this effect.
- mix: Blends between the dry source and the wet reverb field after the reverb core.
- output_gain_db: Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
- space: Expands the base comb-and-diffuser lengths and lengthens the oversized trailing diffuser stage.
- decay: Raises the base comb feedbacks and the recirculation of the added trailing diffuser.
- tone: Raises the damping cutoffs in the base reverb core before the trailing diffuser stage.

Controls
Audible controls in this DSP
Blends between the dry source and the wet reverb field after the reverb core.
Lower settings stay more direct; higher settings move the patch further into the ambient tail.
Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
Matches loudness without changing the actual reverb structure.
Expands the base comb-and-diffuser lengths and lengthens the oversized trailing diffuser stage.
Moves the ambience from large and roomy toward a more stretched, cavernous wash.
Raises the base comb feedbacks and the recirculation of the added trailing diffuser.
Extends the ambient tail and thickens the late bloom.
Raises the damping cutoffs in the base reverb core before the trailing diffuser stage.
Makes the space darker at low settings and more open at high settings.

Code-derived notes
Current implementation shares the same oversized trailing-diffuser reverb core across Blackhole-Style Space and Greyhole. Greyhole is not yet differentiated from Blackhole-Style Space.
