How It Works
Technical view
After high-pass cleanup and a hot biased tanh stage, this patch multiplies the signal by a clamp-based gate driven from a smoothed absolute-value envelope. `fuzz` increases both the pre-clip gain and the gate steepness, while lower `bias` raises the gate threshold so the tail chokes off sooner.

Effect core
Hard-gated fuzz that clips first, then applies a smoothed amplitude gate before final high-shelf tone shaping.
Signal path
The static waveform and the live player both reflect this compiled signal chain.
- internal picked-string demo phrase
- stereo spread with a short right-channel delay
- high-pass cleanup
- biased tanh fuzz stage
- smoothed amplitude gate
- post-fuzz high-shelf tone shaping
- dry / wet mix
- DC blocker
- output gain trim
- final tanh limiter
Controls that matter
These are the currently active controls detected in the FAUST source for this effect.
- mix: Blends the untouched stereo preview source with the fuzzed path after the effect core.
- output_gain_db: Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
- fuzz: Raises both the gain feeding the fuzz stage and the multiplier that sharpens the gate response.
- tone: Adjusts the post-fuzz high shelf.
- bias: Shifts the pre-clip offset and changes the threshold used by the smoothed amplitude gate.

Controls
Audible controls in this DSP
Blends the untouched stereo preview source with the fuzzed path after the effect core.
Lower settings preserve more pick attack and clean body; higher settings push the fuzz treatment to the front.
Applies final post-effect level trim after DC blocking and before the output limiter.
Matches loudness without changing the actual fuzz structure.
Raises both the gain feeding the fuzz stage and the multiplier that sharpens the gate response.
Adds more fuzz density and makes the gate clamp down more aggressively.
Adjusts the post-fuzz high shelf.
Makes the gated splatter darker and choked or brighter and more cutting.
Shifts the pre-clip offset and changes the threshold used by the smoothed amplitude gate.
Lower values make the tail choke and sputter earlier; higher values let notes hang on longer.
